Road trips and summertime just go together so well. Packing up the car and traveling to new destinations in and around my area is one of my favorite things to do. If you’re looking for one last road trip hurrah to end your summer on a high note, I’ve got the perfect place for you and the best way to travel there: Peddler’s Village using the PA Turnpike. Peddler’s Village is one of the CUTEST areas in Bucks County, PA and using E-ZPass on the Pennsylvania Turnpike to get there saves time, money, fuel and emissions.
First of all, it’s a no brainer that road trips are the best! As a word of advice, take every opportunity you get for a road trip. I guarantee you’ll gain unforgettable experiences and memories. While being in a car with family/friends can be so fun, you also want to save as much time and money as you can before arriving at your destination. E-ZPass helps you do just that! E-ZPass is the best way to keep money in your pocket because it saves you nearly 60% on tolls.
The PA Turnpike and E-ZPass offer the cheapest and most convenient way to travel. Still on the fence? Here are few reasons that make the decision a no-brainer. First, the PA Turnpike has converted to All-Electronic Tolling. So, no more digging for cash or waiting in line to pay a toll. Travel on the PA Turnpike is now easier, more efficient, safer and more environmentally friendly. Second, the PA Turnpike accepts two payment options: E-ZPass, which is a pre-paid program, or Toll By Plate, a license plate tolling system. Third, both E-ZPass and Toll By Plate customers can save on tolls. E-ZPass is the cheapest option. Drivers save nearly 60% on tolls. Toll By Plate customers can also save 15% on tolls if they register for autopay. I mean, we all just want to travel more efficiently and cost-effectively, right? Well, by taking the PA Turnpike and using your E-ZPass, you can do just that! Now is the perfect time to sign up for E-ZPass and start saving.
Planning your route ahead of your trip helps you understand time, mileage, gas, and where you will need or want to stop. Conveniently, there are 17 service plazas located along the PA Turnpike. They are open 24/7 and offer a variety of food options, fuel, restrooms, and other amenities which will make your trip so much easier. I made a pitstop at the King Of Prussia service plaza during my recent summer road trip. You can even plan ahead by checking out all the service plaza locations via the Turnpike’s website. If you’re a planner like I am, it also helps to view the online Toll Calculator so you can see how E-ZPass will save you money as you drive. The PA Turnpike website has awesome travel tools that will make planning your next trip a breeze .
This summer, I was eager to travel more in Pennsylvania and decided to plan a trip to Peddler’s Village. It’s a place I had been before during a press retreat with Visit Bucks County for their ‘Gourmet Getaway’ a couple years ago and absolutely fell in love with the place. I jumped at the opportunity to return there this summer and quickly got to planning fun things to see and do on our trip. In case you’ve never been before, Peddler’s Village is a landmark shopping, dining, and entertainment destination in the heart of historic Bucks County, PA. Peddler’s Village is a 42-acre shopping, dining, lodging and family entertainment destination that features graceful 18th-century-style buildings, lush gardens, and winding brick walkways. Created in 1962, the site is one of Pennsylvania’s premier attractions, drawing more than two million visitors each year. Its historical storybook setting includes 65 distinctive retail shops, seven restaurants, the 66-room Golden Plough Inn, and Giggleberry Fair, an indoor family entertainment center. Peddler’s Village hosts numerous year-round festivals and seasonal events for the public. Recently, Pedder’s Village was named the #1 tourist attraction in the Philadelphia region by the Philadelphia Business Journal. So, if it’s not already on your list of top things to check out, it should be now!!
Upon our arrival to Peddler’s Village, we checked into the elegant and equally as charming, Golden Plough Inn. The location is perfect and offers easy access to all the fun, food and year-round festivities of Peddler’s. The hospitality was amazing, and I already can’t wait to stay here again! That night, we enjoyed dinner for two at Earl’s New American, which pairs the rustic charm and romance of a Bucks County farmhouse with contemporary cuisine. Earl’s New American is hands down one of THE BEST restaurants in the area and an all-around superb dining experience. The food here is locally sourced and beyond good! After a wonderful meal we headed to one of Peddler’s Village amazing summertime events: Comedy Under the Stars. Held under their new event tent, we had such a fun time and couldn’t stop laughing as host Dwayne Dunlevy, Erin Harkes, Paul Lyons, and headliner David Temple took to the stage. What a perfect ending to a great night!
The next day we started with some delectable selections for breakfast at FresCafe (definitely recommend trying the green smoothie)! We had the chance to attend a special event in the outdoor theater for the Peddler’s Village Showtime Under the Stars series, which included a performance of “Murder at the Moulin” by their production partner Without a Cue. The show was SO MUCH FUN, as was the entire trip.
One of the best things about road trips is the freedom and flexibility they give you for traveling. See an interesting sign for a must-stop place? Take a detour! You can go wherever the road leads you. Road trips are perfect for spontaneity! Doing some research and planning ahead of time can help make sure you hit up all the best spots and don’t miss out on any must-sees. With summer travel in full gear, more drivers and vacationers will be on the road. Remember attention to the road is key to making it to your destination safely.
I highly recommend checking out Peddler’s Village in Bucks County. There’s so much to do and see, and they are always hosting new festivals and events. I remember as a kid getting so excited about family road trips. My mom would always find cool places to stop along the way. Plus, all the food, games, music, movies, and family time were what I looked forward to. Sometimes, family road trips can test our relationships, but in the end, they usually make us stronger and more connected. So, when you’re planning, consider these ideas to help you prepare, and remember that if you’re looking for ease and convenience on your trip, use your E-ZPass on the PA Turnpike. They will get you started in making it one of the most memorable vacations ever!
Stay tuned for more adventures…
